Es gibt ein Sub-Ressort hier bei den Blogrebellen, das aktuell ein wenig vernachlässigt wird: Free Music! Der Grund dafür ist recht einfach zu benennen, ich habe aktuell einfach viel zu wenig Zeit all die Perlen zu finden und weiter zu reichen. Aber das wird sich sehr bald ändern!
Für diese EP hier nehme ich mir allerdings mal wieder die Zeit, aus zwei Gründen. Zum einen erschien diese EP auf Saturate! Records, mit denen wir schon sehr lange Zeit zusammenarbeiten. Zum anderen – und das ist der Hauptgrund – ist „Of Course I Still Love You“ von Champagne Drip richtig fett geworden. Supertolle Bassmusic mit ordentlich Bums, Knarz und Wobbel und sogar mit schönen Harmonien. Aber hört selbst und ladet euch die EP als „Name Your Price“ download umsonst, oder noch besser, mit einer kleinen Spende an Künstler und Label.

Champagne Drip’s „Of Course I Still Love You“ travels down new uncharted territory for producer Sam Pool; pulling together elements from his former bass project SPL, and bringing them into the fold of his future-leaning aquatic-bass project Champagne Drip.
The titular first track „Of Course I Still Love You“, which takes it’s name from Elon Musk’s SpaceX’s ocean-going rocket landing platform, highlights Pool’s trademark sound design, mixing warm wobbles with trap beats, and arcade blips.
„Ikebana“ balances 80’s scream synths with warped arpeggios.
„Oni“, the darkest Champagne Drip track to date, juxtaposes elegant zither string plucks with wonky hip-hop beats.
Track 4, „Machines Can Be Our Friends“, rounds out his original tracks with a symphonic slow-motion (and almost psychedelic) hip-hop beat that truly slaps.The release is rounded out by two stellar remixes from veteran producer Starkey and the always on point Sayer. Starkey repurposes „Of Course I Still Love You“ into a grimey DJ-ready dance-floor filler.
Sayer’s merciless take on „Oni“ pushes sonic boundaries, and is sure to test the limits of bass cabinets everywhere in 2017.
